Complex trauma can be overwhelming.
Chronic or complex trauma can shape our world- the way in which we relate to ourselves and others, our ability to trust, and even the way we think and function. Most likely, the patterns that you have developed make perfect sense, usually as an attempt to keep you safe in a sometimes scary world. Our therapy will work to find the balance between creating empathy for your patterns while also slowly opening the door to new possibilities.
Sometimes, complex trauma can lead to somatic symptoms like dissociation, feeling like you’re “stuck” in fight/flight/freeze, feeling dysregulated a majority of the time, or even holding pain in the body. Through somatic therapy techniques, we will address these patterns and allow space for your body to try something new- maybe more time feeling settled, possibly less pain, or even learning a new way to express yourself.
