Hi, I’m Marina Scalise.
I’m a therapist, a friend and community member, a lifelong learner, and a deeply curious and compassionate human. Outside of the therapy space I enjoy scrapbooking, obsessing about delicious food, spending time in lakes/rivers/oceans, protesting for causes that I care about, investing in my community,, and babysitting my friend’s dogs.
In addition to 1:1 therapy, I also provide clinical supervision for graduate level therapists and facilitate the following trainings:
Somatic Therapy I: Introduction to Somatic Tools for Therapists
Somatic Therapy II: Working with Survival Response Systems
Trauma Informed Care for OBGYNs
My Approach
Sessions with me might look different from what you have experienced in other therapy spaces. I am a highly relational therapist meaning that my first hope is to foster a meaningful connection with you. Then, we will explore creative interventions to hear all parts of your story, gently support your nervous system, and foster loving & knowing relationships with all parts of yourself. Some days this might look like meeting yourself with gentle compassion, some days this might look like expressing righteous rage through shaking, pushing, dancing and moving your body in intuitive ways.
Values
I consider myself a lifelong learner who is committed to the liberation of all inside and out of the therapy room.
Many of the values that I bring into the therapy space are rooted in honoring each person’s autonomy, centering teachings from the Disability Justice movement in my work, practicing and learning anti-racism, and striving towards anti-carceral and liberation focused therapy.
Beliefs
I believe housing, healthcare, and reproductive decisions are all basic human rights.
I support a free & liberated Palestine and all other colonized lands.
I am a committed ally to the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
I strive to honor each person’s cultural and ancestral knowledge & practices.
